hoedown bound

October 6, 2007

Tonite marks the 3rd annual (or is it 4 years in the running?) “Howl-at-the-Moon Hoedown,” hosted by my good friends Jen & Loren.  Sissy and I are entering Daddy’s renowed chili, better known as “Ol’ Rog’s Chili,” in this year’s competition.  We’re hopeful.  (And scoffed at the idea of a different name-brand chili powder used in the recipe; some corners just can’t be cut.)  Smores, square-dancing, and sure mockery of all things western … I can hardly wait!

Ole Rog’s Chili came in 3rd place. Not bad for the first year in the running. It’s always a delight to have an excuse to wear by red cowgirl boots….especially with shorts.

I agree, sissy. Third was not bad at all–especially up against the “beer-sirloin” chili (which really was the case of someone playing hard-ball). And since when was white-chili (yes, a very good soup) eligible as contender for Chili-Champ?! (That was a steal.) Aw, well; we’ll get ’em next year! The boots were amazing …

Speaking of mockery…we had a trailer trash bash (TT) littered the front yard with junk. everyone brought TT food you know, fish sticks mac&cheese. lots of high water pants and nascar shirts. The center piece was a large can of corned beef hash (it will stay in tact with out the can) surrounded by little wienies on a paper plate and an olive on top it was a true work of art.

Very funny, Curt. Next year tater-tot casserole? (Might be a step-up, but … why not?!)
