i’m melancholy tonite …

Thinking about one too many sad situations and … I guess, obsessing about the sharp-side of that (all-too-prominent, all-too-familiar) double-edged sword.

You know, the fire that warms and burns.  The rain that grows and drowns.  The wind that pushes and knocks us silly.

But there’s more — so much more to it — than navigating through a world of potent (though natural) elements.  Things are more deeply wrong than fire and wind and rain.  And I’m feeling that tonite.  And I’m feeling it tonite specifically (with-the-name-with-the-face-with-the-story).

This to me feels most truly like prayer.  (Yancey may concur.)

So it is … in a spirit of prayerful meditation, I close in upon our hope:

We are confident of better things … For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.  And we want each one of you to show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope to the very end, so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
